He mainly played as a striker, but could also play as a midfielder. He is the only Singaporean who plays in Europe back in those days. Seibei old time leh you...
Winger Faris Ramli has been in- form recently. He hailed Fandi Ahmad's influence in helping him regain his form.
The 22-year-old Singapore international also took time to thank his coach for his sticking with him.
He mention that Fandi is a really good coach, he has the experience and he really knows how to bring the best out of a player and that makes me want to show more in training. He has been really frustrated [this last few weeks] and I wanted to prove some people wrong. Fandi told me it was all in his head and he needed that mental strength to keep going. Today will be his day and I feel fresh for upcoming games and all I can say is I'm back. All this has resulted the winger to put in a match-winning shift on Saturday night, opening the scoring against Kelantan after only four minutes. Faris' early goal seemed to settle the hosts against Kelantan, with the Red Warriors looking lacklustre in the opening exchanges.
He then put the icing on the cake with a second goal minutes before the end of regulation time to seal a 3-0 win for the home team.
Faris mention he didn't even know he was supposed to start today," he told assembled media after the game he have a tight groin and coach Fandi told me I would play in the second half.
LionsXII winger Faris Ramli is looking to keep up his scoring form when his side take on defending champions and leaders Johor Darul Taízim (JDT) at Larkin on Wednesday night.
Four days ago, a half-fit Faris showed how important he was to the LionsXIIís cause by scoring two goals in their stunning 4-2 win against title contenders Pahang FA.
The 22-year-old, who missed the 4-2 midweek defeat to Terengganu FA due to a shin injury, needed little time to ease back into the team.
First he superbly controlled Nazrul Nazariís flick-on in mid-air before clipping a neat finish past Pahang keeper Khairul Azhan Khalid for the opener, then proceeded to score his second and his sideís third with a deflected snapshot from the edge of the area.
That two strikes mean Faris has gone into double figures for the first time in a season, something which he is visibly pleased with as he helped the LionsXII to return to winning ways. This will be the sweetest return for him.
The LionsXII have not lost at Larkin for the past couple of seasons, drawing 2-2 on both occasions.
In 2013, Baihakki Khaizan and Hariss Harun put the Singaporeans ahead but JDT replied each time via goals from Simone Del Nero and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha.
Last season, Luciano Figueroa and Pablo Aimar scored to put JDT 2-0 up at half time but quick-fire goals from Khairul Amri and Hafiz Sujad in the second half secured the LionsXII a point.
Let us hope that Faris can maintain his such form and scoring touch for the Lion.
